On the island nation of Vanuatu, in the South Pacific, it’s possible to visit pristine beaches, sprawling coral reefs and lush green forests all in a single day.
But among the islands’ most impressive natural wonders are certain someones who, themselves, will sometimes do the visiting.
Few people know that better than TikTok user favislandhome. Last month, they shared some unforgettable footage taken during their stay on Vanuatu.
Evidently, after walking in to use the bathroom, favislandhome found it to be unexpectedly occupied — not by another person, but by four extremely large crabs.
It certainly was a sight to behold:
The alien-like visitors favislandhome had stumbled upon that day were actually far from alien.
They were a group of local coconut crabs, the largest known species of land-dwelling crustacean.
These protected animals, found on islands throughout the South Pacific, are capable of growing 3 feet wide, and weighing in at up to 9 pounds — true behemoths.
But as favislandhome discovered, they’re apparently not so big on personal space. For that, they’d need a helping hand.
“How I wish I got a video of myself taking them all out from my bathroom,” favislandhome wrote. “They were so strong.”
